The Nordskot Traverse

Dream day

This trip is by far our most popular. And the reasons are many: It is a 'stone's throw' from Manshausen, suitable for everyone who is used to walking in the mountains, it is a nice day trip, you get up high to have fantastic views to Manshausen, Steigen and Nordskotdalen. You conquer both Sørskottinden (608m) and the traverse, - and the trip is just technical enough keep you on your toes :-)

For the extra energetic / experienced, the trip can be extended further over the more demanding Skotstindan (746m), which you can see in the picture below.

The trip is always guided (unless you are an experienced climber yourself), and must be booked in advance. We start by going up to Sørskottinden at 608m. After a break and inspection of the route, we rappel about 5 meters down to the airy and mighty traverse. We walk with a rope over the traverse edge, which is between 5 and 15 meters wide. Except for the crux which is a small knob we climb over to get onwards (can see in the picture below). Well ahead at the end of the traverse, we go descend to Lundvannet, where we are picked up by car or boat.
