Express boat from Bodø or Lofoten:

Most of our guests come here on the express boat. A 15-minute walk takes you from the airport to the express boat terminal in Bodø city centre. The terminal is close to Havet Hotel, the dominant white building in Bodø. There are more or less daily express boat services from Bodø to our nearby village of Nordskot. If you are in Lofoten, you can take the express boat from the town of Svolvær.

The daily express boat from Bodø (Sentrumsterminalen båt) to ‘Nordskot hurtigbåtkai’ (Steigen) takes 1.5 hours. From Svolvær to Nordskot takes about 2 hours. For current express boat schedules / tickets, please check reisnordland.no. Buy tickets here! Let us know when you arrive at Nordskot, we’ll pick you up by shuttle boat.

Fly

If you are flying to Bodø with little baggage and have sufficient time, the express boat terminal in the city centre is only a relaxed 15-minute walk.

If your international return flight is from Oslo, it’s good to know that you can be at Oslo Airport Gardermoen a mere 3.5 hours after leaving Manshausen.

If you are pressed for time, book a taxi in advance.

Bus

Travelling by bus is a little more complicated. Take the Bodø–Narvik bus to Tømmerneset, which is about an hour from Nordskot. From there, you can take one of the infrequently-corresponding buses that go to Steigen / Nordskot. For bus schedules, please check Reisenordland "travelplanner”.

By train

Travelling by train is a great and relaxing way to see Norway! Bodø, situated 18 hours from Oslo and 10 hours from Trondheim, is the last stop on the Nordland Line (Nordlandsbanen). With own boat

The Vestfjord, despite its name, is an open stretch of sea and not a sheltered fjord. While it can be notoriously stormy and caution must be exercised, crossing the Vestfjord by boat can be a great experience. Manshausen has a guest harbour; if ours is full, the nearby village of Nordskot also has an excellent guest harbour.

To reach Manshausen, even in rough weather, chart a course through the well-marked Grøtøyleia strait.
